The RESET Standards, tools, and services are unique from other building and certification programs. RESET is non-prescriptive and is not made up of checklists or mandatory pathways. Instead, RESET prioritizes operational results through continuous monitoring. RESET codifies monitoring methods and data collection methodologies but the Standards can be tailored to each project depending on individual needs and goals.
View list of all RESET ProjectsRESET is extremely unique. The RESET Standard is a data standard focused around long-term monitoring and performance targets rather than being a design standard. RESET also provides a series of tools and services to help facilitate communication and data analytics. The world’s leading companies are integrating the RESET Standard into their core design and operational standards as a cost-effective strategy for maintaining competitiveness.
Reasons why RESET is invaluable for your project:
"You can't manage what you can't measure" and when it comes to measuring the complex issues that arise in built environments, we need robust information delivered with accuracy. RESET codifies how to deploy and install monitoring devices within buildings and outlines how to collect and report the data consistently. The RESET Standard provides quality control over data which leads to improved system analytics, accelerated problem-solving, and informed optimization strategies.
Well-governed buildings leverage their expertise to build trust and confidence with tenants. Responsiveness to issues paired with transparency of information are key factors that attract tenants and retain them for future contracts. RESET is a third-party whose name is synonymous with trust. RESET projects create positive feedback loops between owners and tenants by using verified data from continuous monitoring technology. Building such inclusivity means that everyone is involved in the process of meeting operational goals to benefit both people and planet.
RESET focuses on long-term achievements for buildings and spaces that make up our modern world. Because the RESET Standard is operationally-focused, RESET Projects are recognized for all their achievements, not only on a day one, but also on day 1001. Integrity, diligence, and dedication to ongoing improvement is foundational to RESET and is a noteworthy characteristic of projects that adopt the RESET Standard.
The built environment requires constant maintenance and upkeep. This requires collaboration between what are often disparate parties: the tenant and the landlord. The RESET Standard helps facilitate communication between the tenant and landlord by identifying their respective areas of responsibility. For example, RESET for Commercial Interiors decouples tenant data from that of Core & Shell, allowing for more effective troubleshooting, remediation and communication efforts.
RESET promotes tenant engagement by facilitating the sharing of data between landlords and tenants with defined structures. This creates opportunities for new service models. Data sharing opens the door to improved behaviors because results are transparent and readily understood. Engagement through positive reinforcement leads to collaboration and commitment from all parties in order to achieve environmental and health-driven goals.
The world is changing faster than ever. Technological advancements, climate change, pandemics, and economic fluctuations are disruptive threats that flip the market on its head. To hedge against these disruptive events requires flexibility and preparedness that can only come from keen understanding of the built environment. RESET is a set of data standards that codifies how to monitor our buildings to help manage risk and liability.
Because the RESET Standard is modularized, project teams can implement individual modules over time. Dividing the Standard into modules allows teams the opportunity to pursue criteria that are most critical to them according to individual priorities. Projects need not accomplish all modules in order to certify.
RESET can be applied to new or existing project typologies.
Below are summaries of the project accreditation requirements for the two project typologies:
RESET for Commercial Interiors targets a section of the interior space and is a typology tailored for tenants or a partial owner of an indoor space.
RESET for Core & Shell targets the entire building and is a typology tailored for landlords and developers.
By separating Commercial Interiors and Core & Shell, RESET Energy helps owners, operators, and tenants achieve healthy performance targets by clearly defining and communicating their respective roles and responsibilities and liabilities.

For a building owner or landlord, RESET Core & Shell can help defend against potential liability claims by providing defensible data from an unbiased, third-party source. Data collected through the RESET Standard is invaluable to ensure that best practices are maintained by all parties.
Apart from the RESET Standard, RESET offers a series of tools and services:
Build trust with third-party, audited data and market your achievements to show your commitment to long-term change.
RESET provides three levels of auditing for each Standard:
A documentation-level audit that reviews all submissions prior to construction and serves as proof of intent for implementation as outlined in the RESET Standards.
A physical inspection of the project by a third-party, to attest to the validity of the installation in accordance with the documentation audit.
An assessment of the data as collected from the continuous monitors as deployed on the project.
There are five different Statuses in the RESET Standard. Not all Statuses require all three audit phases. For more information on RESET Statuses, click here.
The RESET Cloud is RESET’s analytics and benchmarking platform. Projects that are connected to the RESET Cloud have unique access to daily performance information that can be used for data analytics. By studying and aggregating project data, owners and operators can benchmark their progress, leverage tenant engagement and focus attention on ESG performance initiatives.
The RESET Cloud includes access to the RESET Leaderboard, which benchmarks performance data against other documented projects anonymously.
If a project is interested in getting started with monitoring according to the RESET Standard, but is not ready to certify, leveraging the RESET Connected project status might be the perfect middle ground. Connecting project data to the RESET Cloud allows access to the analytics and benchmarking features. This is an excellent way to develop a data strategy to move towards environmental, health and well-being goals.

Data sharing opens the door to improved behaviors because results are transparent and readily understood. Engagement through positive reinforcement leads to collaboration and commitment from all parties in order to achieve environmental and health-driven goals.
By leveraging the RESET Cloud, tenants can be placed on a “leaderboard”; a visualization tool that is used for benchmarking. Leaderboards can be designed to illustrated monthly rankings based on data as collected through continuous monitoring.

Projects that leverage the RESET Standard can be accredited or certified by RESET. Accreditation and statuses are applied to each of the RESET Standards separately per project.

The RESET framework brings buildings into the age of data. A building and an organization that understands data has significant benefits:
Data visibility and access will bring awareness internally and externally, which will highlight the organization and project’s commitment to sustainability.
With continuous monitoring, you can track and follow the trends in your space in real-time to figure out ways to optimize.
Understanding the problem is the first step to solving it. Starting with monitoring and using data will optimize for the most cost effective solutions.
RESET facilitates data sharing between landlords and tenants via the RESET Leaderboard, creating opportunities to align health and sustainability goals.
The future is data. Use RESET to help train internal teams to better understand data and future proof your organization.
